DIY home automation -- thermostat control

I have a hall way with three (3) light switches which control the On-and-Off switch from each of the three switches. I want to install a dimmer however I only can find a three (3-way) way dimmer switch which does not seem to be the one dimmer switch (3-way) that will correctly do the job.
